Conservative Judaism endorses marriage equality
June 05, 2012
In a unanimous vote of the governing body of rabbis:
The Rabbinical Assembly’s Committee onJewish Law and Standards -- which sets halachic policy for the Conservative movement -- has voted unanimously to provide the approximately 1,600 Conservative rabbis with guidelines on performing same-sex marriages.
The move is an official sanction of the ceremonies by the movement.
I have always found conservative Christian readings of the Old Testament to be rebuked by the fact that all branches of American Judaism -- Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox -- have ordained openly gay rabbis. And now Conservative Judaism endorses marriage equality. So, who do you think has a better grasp on interpreting Leviticus?
